The passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II

Here at Cedar Care, we are deeply saddened by the passing of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday the 8th of September.

She was our longest serving monarch and the single strand that connects all of us, young and old, in a shared history that stretches from the early part of the 20th century to our present place in the 21st.

This is a time to mourn but also a time to reflect and to celebrate. To reflect on the passing of time and all that it entails. To reflect on family and what we mean to each other.  To reflect on the young woman who was never intended to take on this role – and to celebrate the strength and character it took to give wholly and devoutly to those she led through times of hardship and times of great change. She was mother, grandmother and great grandmother not just to her own family, but to a family of nations.

Grosvenor Villas – Ice cream day

Grosvenor Villas residents had a most welcomed visit from the Ice Cream Van organised by Cedar Care. Due to the scorching weather, it all went down really well for staff and residents, and we served over a hundred portions of ice cream. Hearing and seeing the ice cream van invoked many memories for the residents. The staff listened to several stories of residents’ summer holidays and beach trips, and one resident shared his memory of eating the ice cream leftovers from his parents’ shop at the end of every day! Everybody enjoyed their time outside with yummy ice creams. The staff also offered treats to the residents in their bedrooms.
